Def Leppard Guitarist Has Cancer
We're saddened to report that Def Leppard guitar player Vivian Campbell was recently diagnosed with cancer.
A surgical biopsy in March, after he reported having a "cough that wouldn't quit," tested positive for Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He's now going through chemotherapy.
The 50 year old Campbell says, "I'm about two months in...and [I'm] feeling rather spiffy, all things considered. Hodgkin's has an over 80% cure rate, so by my reckoning, if you're going to have cancer, Hodgie's is the one to have!"
He plans to remain on Def Leppard's summer tour, which runs from June 21st through July 17th. He joined Def Leppard in 1992, after previous stints with Whitesnake and Dio.
