Tom Petty Concert Cut-Short by Fire Marshals
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers really brought down the house, Saturday night...almost literally!
Their show at The Fonda in Los Angeles was cut short when local fire marshals determined that the venue was overcrowded. The fourth of six shows for the band at The Fonda, fans refused to leave amidst choruses of howls and boos.
After 10:30pm during their set, Tom Petty informed the crowd that about 100 people would need move to the balcony or leave the concert. No audience members volunteered. During a song, Petty received information from officials, notified the crowd that the show was over, and walked off stage. The audience applauded...until the lights came up and an announcer reiterated that the show was over.
