An upcoming Robert Plant biography is being touted as "the first complete and comprehensive telling" of the legendary Led Zeppelin singer's life story. Slated to be published in the U.S. this coming January, Robert Plant: A Life was written by Paul Rees, the one-time editor-in-chief of popular U.K. music magazines Kerrang! and Q.
The book follows Plant's musical journey from his youth in England's Black Country through his years fronting the rock leviathan that was Led Zeppelin and on to his many eclectic solo projects. Rees has had a long association with Plant, having interviewed him on a number of occasions and spent time with the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer on tour. The writer also had access to many of the singer's close friends and musical associates, including Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, whom he's interviewed twice.
"To have Paul Rees take you back stage at of one of the most extraordinary stories in music history is a dream come true," says Denise Oswald, senior editor for the HarperCollins publishing company's It Books imprint. "This is as intimate an account as any Zeppelin fan could hope for."
Prior to its U.S. publication, Robert Plant: A Life is scheduled to be released in Octoberin the United Kingdom.
