Last year, Tony Bennett said that he had plans to record a jazz album with Lady Gaga, but she never actually said anything about it herself...until now.
On Tuesday night, Gaga and Bennett performed at the White House for President Obama, as well as campaign staffers and aides. "I had the most amazing evening with The President, First Lady & The Whitehouse staff," she tweeted afterwards, and then posted a picture of her and Bennett on stage together. "Here's me and my handsome date," she wrote. "I simply cannot wait for our album together, he's my darling!"
Gaga and Bennett teamed up for the standard "The Lady Is a Tramp" on his 2011 album Duets II, and he also appeared in her ABC Thanksgiving special that year to perform it with her. Last year Bennett told Billboard that the album with Gaga would be his next project, and added, "It's going to really reaffirm that she's one of the best jazz singers that anyone's ever heard." He also said that the project was Gaga's idea.
No word on when we can expect this album, though, since Gaga is also gearing up for her own new release, ARTPOP.
