Watch Video for Star-Studded UK Charity Single Featuring Paul McCartney Online Now

12/7/2012

A video for the recently recorded version of the 1969 Hollies hit "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" that features Paul McCartney and many other U.K. stars is streaming now exclusively at Mirror.co.uk.  The track, which will be released as a digital single on December 17, will raise money for the families of the 96 people killed at an April 1989 crushing incident at the Hillsborough soccer stadium in Sheffield, England.

In addition to the Beatles legend, who contributes vocals and a guitar solo, the song features Squeeze's Glen Tilbrook, The Clash's Mick Jones, Gerry and the Pacemakers frontman Gerry Marsden, Frankie Goes to Hollywood's Holly Johnson and many others.  McCartney is featured late in the clip, singing parts of two lines and then playing a few licks on guitar.

The song, which will be issued under the moniker The Justice Collective, is being released just before Christmas in the U.K. with hopes that it will hit #1 on the British charts during the holiday week.

All the musicians involved in the project donated their time for free.  Proceeds raised from the single will go toward charities that support the families of the victims of the Hillsborough tragedy and their fight for justice in conjunction with the incident.
