AC/DC To Announce Retirement? UPDATED
UPDATE: Lead singer Brian Johnson insists that the band will hit the studio to record new material next month.
However, he does concede that one of the band members DOES have a "debilitating illness."
The band released this statement:
After forty years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health. Malcolm would like to thank the group’s diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support.
In light of this news, AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his family’s privacy be respected during this time. The band will continue to make music.
The rumor mill is buzzing about a potential "retirement" announcement from AC/DC.
An Australian entertainment reporter announced that the band was to cancel their upcoming tour, and quote, "we will never see them perform again, or record again."
Recently, guitar player Malcolm Young returned home to his family in Australia for "personal reasons," so that could be a factor in these rumors.
One rumor swirling says Malcolm is terminally ill, and the band would rather "retire" than to replace him. There's no official word from the band.
