Rock Hall Recap: Kiss Makes Nice, Doesn't Perform
KISS did not perform at the 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony...but they did play nice with each other, as they accepted their honor.
Gene Simmons gave credit to the two "long-retired" original members, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. He also mentioned the names of all the guys in the band after them, but added "...we wouldn't be here today without the original fantastic four."
Simmons then said, "To Ace Frehley, whose iconic guitar playing has been imitated but never equaled...to Peter Criss, whose drumming and singing and there's not a guy who beats the sticks who sounds just like Peter."
The E-Street Band was inducted by Bruce Springsteen, who is already himself a member of the Hall of Fame, inducted in 1999.
Hall & Oates, Peter Gabriel, and Cat Stevens performed as well, as did the surviving members of Nirvana, fronted by singers including Joan Jett and Lorde.
Unable to perform due to her Parkinson's Disease, Linda Ronstadt was paid tribute by Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt, Carrie Underwood, Emmylou Harris, and Glenn Frey.
You can watch the ceremony on HBO, May 31st.
