It may be winter break, but Billy Joel is headin' back to school!
The 'Piano Man' has donated a Bosendorfer piano, worth approximately $250,000, to the music department at Stony Brook University.
The piano is a Bosendorfer Imperial Grand, which is handmade in Austria, and features 97 keys, rather than the standard 88 keys found on most pianos. The extra keys give musicians an extra octave to work with. Bosendorfer is commonly considered the "Rolls-Royce" of pianos, worldwide.
This is the second piano Joel has donated to Stony Brook--he donated a Baldwin Grand Piano a few years ago.
